Since the 50th reunion in 2010, Dave and I visited St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and (by ship) many towns and cities in Norway. We sailed along the coast of Norway from Kirkenes (near the Russian Border) on the Arctic Ocean to Bergen. We attended a midnight concert at the Arctic Cathedral in Tromso, Norway. No flashlight was needed to see where we were walking as we were in the "land of the midnight sun." What an experience! In Oslo, Sweden, we departed our Norwegian Coastal Voyage and Lapland trip and headed home.Travels now are closer to home. Is that a sign of aging? |

Since the 50th Reunion in 2010, Dave and I visited St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and many towns in Norway in 2013. We boarded the Nordkapp at Kirkenes, Norway, which is located on the Arctic Ocean not far from the border with Russia. The Nordkapp sailed along the coast of Norway and stopped at many small towns to deliver the mail, passengers, and supplies. Depending on the length of the ship docking, we could tour the town to learn the history of the area or to shop. We attended a midnight concert at the Arctic Cathedral, located north of the Arctic Circle. Flashlights were not needed to see as we were in "the land of the midnight sun." What an experience. We completed the cruise at Bergen, Norway. Then, by coach and train we traveled to Oslo, Sweden, to fly home. We are now taking much shorter trips. Perhaps, this is a sign of aging?

I retired six years ago after 31 years with the State of Ohio as an administrator. Thanks to Mr. Hays, I majored in history at OSU and my Masters Degree was in Public Administration. Thanks to Mary Coleman who influenced me tremendously, I developed a love of travel and have traveled all over the world in the last 25 years and attended ffive olympics. I have three children and two step children and nine grandchildren and we enjoy spending lots of time with them and with our families (two sisters live in Steubenville). I have also enjoyed keeping in touch over the years with many many classmates. Hobbies are travel, reading, skiing, political action.

I married Mary Jane Arthurs (Big Red Class of 1959) 51 years ago and we have 5 children and 11 beautiful grandchildren. We have been living in Wilmington, NC for the past12 years and have no plans to leave. All five of our children live in North Carolina with three (and 5 grandchildren) in the Wilmington area. I retired from the military in 1990 and then retired for good in 2010. We thank the Lord everyday for the many blessings He has brought into our lives and for the gift of His Son.
